Ingredients

    For soak :
  • Tamarind - Lime size
  • Tomato - 1 big cut into cubes
  • Water - 2 cups
    For grind :
  • Cumin - 2 tsp
  • Pepper corns - 2 tsp
  • Garlic - 5 nos
    For temper :
  • Oil- 1 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Fenugreek seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Dry red chilli - 2 broken into half
  • Curry leaves - 2 stems
  • Asafoetida powder - 1/4 tsp
    Other :
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Salt - 1 tsp or as per your taste
  • Coriander leaves - 2 tbsp

Instructions

  1. In a bowl soak tarmarind and tomato in two cup of water for 10 minutes
  2. Squeeze out the tamarind and tomato juice using your hands and you will get thick pulp, keep it aside
  3. Grind coarsely cumin, pepper corns and garlic in a mixi or blender
  4. In a sauce pan heat oil over medium heat
  5. Add mustard seeds, wait till it pops then add fenugreek seeds ,dry chillies and asafoetida powder
  6. Now add grinded ingredients into it, saute for few seconds
  7. A nice smell of roasted spices will come, then add strained tamarind and tomato juice
  8. Add turmeric powder, salt and coriander leaves
  9. Cover and allow to boil for few seconds (not too long )
  10. Switch off and remove from stove
  11. Enjoy hot with rice

Ingredients

    Vegetables
  • Cabbage (shredded) - half of a medium sized
  • Carrot (shredded)- 1
  • Green Chilli - 1 nos chopped small bits
  • Onion (chopped really small) - 2 Tbs
    Dressing
  • Mayonnaise - 1/2 cup
  • Sugar - 1 tsp
  • Salt - to taste
  • Vinegar - 1 Tbs
  • Lemon Juice - 1Tbs
  • Pepper powder - 1 tsp (to taste)
  • Coriander Leaves (chopped) - 1 tsp

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, add vegetables and mix it with hand or spoon
    Dressing Preparation:
  1. In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, sugar, salt, vinegar, lemon juice, pepper powder and coriander leaves well
  2. Put this mixture into former large bowl and mix well with spatula or hand. Be careful when mixing with hand because there is chili and pepper powder in the mix
  3. Place the contents in an air tight container and put it in the refrigerator for 1 hr.
  4. Mix coleslaw well before serving. Enjoy your coleslaw salad
