Green Peas Masala

Ingredients

  • Whole green peas - 1 cup
  • Onion - 2 large slice thinly
  • Ginger - 1 tsp crushed
  • Garlic - 1 tsp crushed
  • Green chilli - 4 slit lenghthwise
  • Curry leaves - 1 stem
  • Tomato - 1 1/2 cubed
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 2 tsp
  • Garam masala powder - 1 tsp
  • Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Water - 3/4 cup
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
    For garnish :
  • Coriander leaves - 2 tbsp
  • Curry leaves - 1 stem
  • Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
  • Whole pepper - 1/2 tsp crushed

Instructions

  1. Soak whole green peas overnight in tap water
  2. Wash the green peas well and keep aside
  3. Heat a pressure cooker over medium heat and add oil
  4. When it is hot,add onion and saute well until it is slightly golden brown
  5. Then add ginger, garlic, green chilli and curry leaves, saute well for 30 seconds
  6. Now add tomato cubes and saute well for 30 seconds until soft
  7. Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, pepper powder, garam masala powder and salt
  8. Saute well for 1 minute , add green peas and water close the lid and cook over medium heat
  9. When the first whistle sounds, switch off the stove and keep aside(don't over cook)
  10. When it is cool open the lid and boil the curry over medium heat, for more gravy add little more water
  11. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes , finally add above mentioned garnish ingredients
  12. Remove from the stove
  13. Enjoy hot with any rotis or bread
