Best Chicken Tikka Masala Recipe

Ingredients

    For marinate :
  • Chicken - 1 kg cut into medium pieces & cleaned
  • Chilli powder - 2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Pepper powder - 1 tsp
  • Garam masala powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste or 1 1/2 tsp
  • Lemon juice 2 tbsp
  • Yogurt - 4 tbsp
  • Ginger & garlic paste - 2 tbsp
    For masala :
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Onion - 2 big chopped
  • Ginger & garlic crushed - 2 tsp
  • Tomato - 2 big grind to make puree
  • Chilli powder - 1 1/2 tsp
  • Kashmir chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Corriander powder - 1 tsp
  • Cumin powder - 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste or 1 tsp
  • Fresh half & half cream - 1/2 cup or ( can use thick coconut milk )
  • Kasoori methi (dried fenugreek leaves) - 1/2 tsp
    For garnish :
  • Onion - 1 big cubed
  • Capsicum - 1/2 cubed
  • Oil - 2 tbsp

Instructions

  1. In a big bowl place cleaned & drained chicken pieces
  2. Add above mentioned marination ingredients(chilli powder,turmeric powder,cumin powder,garam masala powder, pepper powder, salt ,lemon juice,ginger garlic paste & yogurt) mix well
  3. Let the chicken marinate for 2 hours
  4. Meanwhile preheat oven for 400 degreeF
  5. Line a baking dish with aluminium foil and grease with butter
  6. Place the chicken evenly spaced & Bake it for 40 minutes, turn the chicken half way through baking
  7. Remove baked chicken from oven and keep it aside
  8. Heat 2 tbs of oil in a big sauce pan , saute cubed onion and capsicum for 1 or 2 minutes
  9. Remove from oil and keep aside for garnish
  10. In the same pan add 2 tbsp of oil and add chopped onions, saute till it is slightly golden brown
  11. Add chopped ginger & garlic,saute till the raw smell disappears
  12. Add corriander powder, chilli powder,cumin powder,kashmir chilli powder and salt
  13. Saute for 30 seconds and add ground tomato puree
  14. Cover and cook for 5 minutes in medium heat, then add in baked chicken pieces and combine
  15. Cook for another 5 minutes in low - medium heat
  16. Add fresh half &half cream, fenugreek leaves (Kasoori methi)
  17. Bring the heat to low for 2 minutes and switch off the stove
  18. Garnish with saute'ed cubed onion, Cubed capsicum and fresh coriander leaves
  19. Enjoy with rice or any type of roti
