Pepper Chicken

Ingredients

  • chicken - 1 kg, cut into medium pieces
    For marination :
  • Chilli powder - 2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Crushed whole pepper - 2 tsp
  • Lemon juice - 2 tsp
  • Ginger and garlic paste - 2 tsp
  • Salt - 1 1/2 tsp or as per your taste
    For Masala:
  • Onion - 3 thinly sliced
  • Green chilli - 4 slit
  • Ginger - 1" piece crushed
  • Garlic - 10 nos crushed
  • whole pepper powder - 1 tsp
  • Garam masala powder - 1 tsp
  • Salt - 1/2 tsp or as per your taste
  • Curry leaves - 2 stems
  • Water - 1/2 cup
  • Coconut oil or veg oil - 4 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Marinate cleaned chicken pieces with the marination ingredients mentioned above, for 15 minutes
  2. Heat oil in a wide pan over medium flame and saute onion till slightly golden brown
  3. Add green chilli, crushed ginger, garlic & 1 stem of curry leaves
  4. Saute till the raw smell disappears or about 1 minute
  5. Now add the marinated chicken, mix well & saute for 2 minutes
  6. Then add 1/2 cup of water and salt , cover and cook for 15 minutes over medium heat
  7. Stir in between, bring the heat to low and cook for another 5 to 10 minutes or till the chicken is done and gravy becomes thick
  8. Finally add fresh crushed pepper powder, garam masala powder and 1 stem of curry leaves
  9. Switch off the stove & enjoy this spicy pepper chicken with rice or roti
