Indo-Chinese Chilli Chicken

Best hot and spicy chilli chicken recipe

Ingredients

  • Chicken - 1/2 kg boneless or bite pieces
  • Ginger - 1 tsp paste
  • Garlic - 1 tsp paste
  • Chilli sauce - 2 tbsp
  • Chilli powder - 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Soya sauce - 2 tbsp
  • Corn flour - 4 tbsp
  • All - purpose flour - 4 tbsp
  • Water - 2 tbsp
  • Salt - if needed 1 tsp
    For sauce :
  • Soya sauce - 3 tbsp
  • Chilli sauce - 2 tbsp
  • Chilli powder - 1 tbsp
  • Vinegar - 2 tsp
  • Sugar 1 tsp
    For saute :
  • Onion - 1 1/2 large cubed
  • Garlic - 1 tbsp chopped
  • Capcicum - 3/4 cup cubed
  • Spring onion - 2 tbsp chopped
    For fry :
  • Oil - 1/2 cup

Instructions

  1. In a bowl marinate cleaned chicken with ginger - garlic paste, chilli sauce, soya sauce,
  2. chilli powder,turmeric powder and salt ,set aside for 2 to 3 hours or refrigerate it overnight.
  3. Take a small bowl and mix the sauce ingredients, keep aside
  4. Cut the sauteing ingredients and keep aside
  5. Then add corn flour, all - purpose flour and 2 tbsp of water into the marinated chicken and mix well
  6. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and fry the marinated chicken until it golden brown
  7. Transfer to a plate, lined with paper towel
  8. In a wide pan heat 2 tbsp of oil over medium heat and add garlic and saute it for 30 seconds
  9. Then add onion cubes and saute till it transparent
  10. Add capsicum, 1/2 of spring onion and saute it for 1 minute
  11. Add prepared sauce and let it bubble up well
  12. Then add the fried chicken , mix well and saute on high flame for 2 minutes
  13. If you prefer more gravy, mix 1 tsp of corn flour in 1/4 cup of water and add to the chilli chicken
  14. Cook for medium - low heat for 1 minute , switch off the stove & garnish with spring onion
  15. Serve hot with fried rice, ghee rice or roti
