Gobi Manchurian

 

This delicious Gobi Manchurian can be quickly prepared using this recipe. This is one of the family favourites at our table.

You can substitute broccoli or chicken instead of cauliflower. Kids love this dish.

Gobi Manchurian

Ingredients

  • Cauliflower - 1 cut into small florets
  • Water - 1 cup
    For fry:
  • Oil - 1/2 cup
    For batter:
  • Corn flour - 1/2 cup
  • All purpose flour (maida) - 2 tbsp
  • Pepper powder - 1 tsp
  • Chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt - 1/2 tsp
  • Water - 3 tbsp or required for medium thick batter
    For the sauce:
  • Oil -1 1/2 tbsp
  • Garlic - 5 nos chopped
  • Onion - big cut into small cubes
  • Capsicum - 1/2 cut into small cubes(any colour)
  • Spring onion (green onion) - white part 2 tbsp & green part 2 tbsp
  • Soy sauce - 1/2 tsp
  • Chilli sauce - 1/4 tsp
  • Tomato sauce - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt - 1/2 tsp or as per your taste

Instructions

  1. Clean the cauliflower florets well with water. Remove any discolored section on the florets.
  2. Boil water in a big sauce pan then add salt and cauliflower and cook covered for 3 minutes
  3. Drain it and keep aside
  4. In a bowl make the batter with above mentioned batter ingredients. Consistency must be medium-thick
  5. In a pan heat oil over medium heat
  6. Dip the drained cauliflower florets in the batter and cover it well. Deep fry them better to do in batches
  7. Transfer it onto a paper towel when it is golden brown,keep aside
  8. In a small bowl add soy sauce, tomato sauce, chilli sauce and mix well
  9. Place a big pan over medium heat and add 1 1/2 tbsp oil
  10. Add garlic ,saute for few seconds
  11. Then add cubed onion &white section (bottom) of spring onion, saute for 1 minute
  12. Now add cubed capsicum, saute for 1 minute
  13. Add prepared sauce and saute in high heat for few seconds
  14. Finally add fried cauliflower,pepper powder and salt, mix well
  15. Switch off the stove and garnish with spring onion
  16. Enjoy hot as a side dish to meal or snack
