Green Spinach Thoran | Pacha Cheera Thoran

Green Spinach Thoran | Pacha Cheera Thoran

Ingredients

  • Green Spinach - 1 pack or 2 bunches ( cleaned & chopped into medium size )
  • Salt - 1 tsp
  • Chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
    To grind :
  • Shredded coconut - 1/2 cup
  • Green chilli - 3 nos
  • Garlic - 3 nos
  • Cumin - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric - 1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves - 3 to 4 leaves
    To temper :
  • Coconut oil - 1 1/2 tbsps
  • Mustard - 1 tsp
  • Raw rice - 1 tbsp
  • Dry red chilli - 2 nos ( cut into halves)
  • Curry leaves - 1 stem

Instructions

  1. Wash the spinach well and drain it by using some paper towel or colander
  2. In a large pan heat coconut oil over medium heat
  3. Splutter mustard followed by rice
  4. Immediately add dry red chilli and curry leaves
  5. Then add washed & well drained chopped spinach
  6. Add salt and chilli powder , cover and cook for 3 minutes
  7. Meanwhile grind above mentioned 'to grind' ingredients into a coarse paste
  8. Add this coconut mixture to spinach and cook uncovered for 5 minutes in medium - low heat
  9. Stir in between , switch off the stove and transfer it into a plate
  10. Enjoy spinach or cheera thoran with rice or "roti"
