Ingredients

  • Basmati rice - 2 cup
  • Boiled hot water - 5 cup
  • Onion - 1/2 thinly sliced
  • Cashews - 10 nos
  • Raisins - 2 tbsp
  • Clove - 4 nos
  • Cinnamon stick - 1" piece - 2 nos
  • Cardamom - 3 nos
  • Oil + ghee - 4 tbsp
  • Salt to taste or 2 tsp
  • Rose water - 1 tsp
  • Garam masala powder - 1/4 tsp

Instructions

  1. Wash & soak rice 1/2 an hour, then drain it
  2. Heat a sauce pan over medium heat , add oil & saute onion till it golden brown
  3. Remove onion to a plate , add cashews & raisins, saute for few seconds & remove
  4. In the same pan add clove, cinnamon and cardamom, wait few seconds
  5. Then add cleaned rice and saute 5 to 8 minutes in medium heat , stir continuosly
  6. Pour the boiled hot water and add salt , garam masala powder & rose water
  7. Cook in medium heat for 5 minutes , then bring heat to medium - low for 15 minutes
  8. Stir 2 to 3 times in between & switch off the stove ,
  9. Transfer to a plate & garnish with cashews and raisins
  10. Enjoy with chicken curry & yogurt
