Toor Dal Curry

Rich protein and fibre curry for rice

Ingredients

  • Toor Dal -1 cup
  • Onion - 1 chopped
  • Green chilli - 2 nos slit lenghthwise
  • Garlic - 2nos chopped
  • Tomato - 1 cubed
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Salt - 1 1/2 tsp or as per your taste
  • Water - 1 cup
    For temper
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Mustard - 1 tsp
  • Cumin seed - 1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves 2 stems
  • Dry red chilli - 2 nos cut into half

Instructions

  1. Wash and clean the toor dal
  2. In a pressure cooker combined toor dal, onion, green chilli, garlic and tomato
  3. Add turmeric, chilli powder, salt and water
  4. Close the lid and cook over medium heat for one whistle & switch off
  5. Heat a sauce pan over medium heat and splutter mustard & cumin
  6. Now add dry red chilli and curry leaves
  7. Then add cooked toor dal from the cooker
  8. Add little more water till you get medium consistency
