SHRIMP CHILLI CURRY or Chemmeen or Konju Mulakittath. Kids at our home love to eat this easy to prepare Chemmeen Mulakittath with rice, dosa, puttu or chapathi. This is a common curry that we prepare at home. Shrimp can be replaced with any variety of fish that you like.
Shrimp Chilli Curry
Give this bursting with flavors shrimp chilli curry a taste.
Ingredients
- Shrimp - 1/2 kg (de - shelled & cleaned)
- Onion - 1 big chopped
- Tomato - 1 big cubed
- Green chilli - 2 slit lenghthwise
- Ginger - 1 tbsp chopped
- Garlic - 1 tbsp chopped
- Curry leaves - 2 stems
- Turmeric - 1/2 tsp
- Chilli powder - 2 1/2 tsp
- Salt - 1 1/2 tsp or as per your taste
- tamerined pulp(soak half lemon size tamarined seeds in 1/4 cup of water& squeeze its juice)
- Water - 1/2 cup
- Oil - 2 tbsp
- Mustard - 1 tsp
- Fenugreek - 1/2 tsp
To Temper
Instructions
- In a sauce pan heat oil over medium heat
- Add mustard, when it splutter add fenugreek
- Now add onion and saute for 1 minute
- Then add ginger, garlic, green chilli and 1 stem of curry leaves
- Saute till it's raw smell goes or about 1minute
- Then add tomato and saute well
- Add chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt
- Saute well for few seconds, then add water & tamerined juice
- Cook over medium heat 10 minutes then reduce heat to low
- Cook another 5 minutes and add 1 stem curry leaves at the end & off the flame
- Enjoy with rice or any roti
