Masala Stuffed Bun
Thalassery Special Meat Masala Stuffed Bun
Ingredients
- Bun - 4 nos
- Hard boiled eggs - 2 cut into 2 halves
- Chicken - 250 gm cut into medium pieces or (chicken breast)
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
- Chilli powder - 1 tsp
- Garam masala powder - 1/2 tsp
- Salt - 1.5 tsp or as per your taste
- Water - 1/2 cup
- Oil &Ghee - 2 tbsp
- Onion - 2 big chopped
- Green chilli - 4 nos chopped
- Ginger - 1" piece crushed
- Garlic - 1 tbsp chopped
- Curry leaves - 1 stem chopped
- Coriander leaves - 1 tbsp chopped
- Pepper powder - 1 tsp
- Garam masala powder - 1 tsp
- Salt to taste or 1.5 tsp
For masala :
- All - purpose flour - 1/4 cup
- Water - 4 to 5 tbsp or enough water for thick mixture
- Egg - 1 nos beaten
For seal :
- Oil + ghee - 3 tbsp
- Egg - 1 nos beaten with a spoon
For toast:
Instructions
- In a sauce pan combine cleaned chicken with turmeric powder, chilli powder & garam masala
- Add 1/2 cup of water and salt, cook it over medium heat for 10 minutes
- Then bring the flame to low - medium & cook for 10 minutes more
- Bring the heat to medium and boil till the gravy becomes thick, saute in between
- Allow it to cool & shred the chicken using your fingers
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat & saute onion with salt till it transparent
- Add ginger , garlic, green chilli , curry leaves and coriander leaves, saute for 1 minute
- Then add shredded chicken, pepper powder and garam masala powder
- Saute for 1 minute and switch off the stove
- Make a small round hole on the side of the bun & remove some of the breading and keep aside
- Then stuff 2 tbsp of meat masala & half of the egg, then 2 tbsp of meat masala
- At the top place some of the removed breading & seal with all - purpose flour mixture
- In a pan heat 2 tbsp of oil & place sealed side of the bun down, cook 1 minute in low heat
- Repeat this process for each bun & keep it aside
- Next dip entire sides of bun into the egg mixture
- Add 2 tsp of ghee in the same pan and toast the bun on all sides
- Repeat this process for each bun & transfer to a plate
- Enjoy with tea
