Rice Dosa – Ari Dosa

Common Tasty Ari Dosa (Rice Dosa) Recipe


  • Long Grain Rice - 1 cup
  • Coconut - 3/4 cup grated
  • Cooked rice - 3/4 cup
  • Salt - 1 1/2 tsp or as per your taste
  • Water - 2 cup


  1. Soak the rice in tap water overnight or at least 3 to 4 hours
  2. In a grinder add cleaned rice, grated coconut, cooked rice ,salt and 1 cup of water
  3. Grind 2 minutes and add other 1cup of water and grind till the batter is smooth
  4. The batter should not be too thick or too thin, somewhere inbetween
  5. Pour the batter into a deep bowl & keep aside
  6. Heat the dosa tava or non stick pan over medium heat
  7. When it is very hot ,spread 1/4 tsp of oil & spread it gently using a kitchen towel or cotton cloth
  8. Pour a laddleful of batter on it and rotate it gently using the back side of laddle (spoon)
  9. Cook dosa over medium heat for 1 minute & spread 1/4 tsp of oil or ghee over it
  10. Flip the dosa using a spatula or chattukam
  11. Cook in a medium - low heat for 1 to 2 minutes & transfer dosa to a cassarol
  12. Repeat the process & enjoy hot with any chutney or curry
