Chapathi or Roti

10 chappatis


Whole Wheat Chapathi or Roti


  • Wheat flour - 1 1/2 cup
  • All purpose flour - 1/2 cup
  • Salt - 1 tsp
  • Oil - 3 tsp
  • Luke warm water - 1 cup


  1. In a bowl combined flour and salt, then add luke warm water little by little
  2. Knead well for 5 minutes, then add 1tsp of oil and knead it again.
  3. If the dough sticky add 1 or 2 tbsp of wheat flour
  4. keep aside for 1/2 an hour
  5. Now take dough and make lemon size balls
  6. Take a rolling board and dust with wheat flour
  7. roll the thin chapathi
  8. While rolling you can keep the rolling board dust with wheat flour
  9. Heat the pan or chapati tawa in medium heat
  10. Now place the rolled chapati , when the top side slightly puff spread 1/4 tsp oil
  11. And flip it, press the chapati with a chattukam (flat spoon)
  12. Cook until it puffs, spread some oil
  13. Take it out and serve hot with any curry
  14. Enjoy.
