Mushroom Masala

  • Mushroom - white sliced 250 gm
  • Onion - 1/2 chopped
  • Green onion - 2 tbsp chopped
  • Garlic - 5 nos chopped
  • Capsicum red - 1/2 cubed
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Chilli flakes - 1/2 tsp
  • Pepper powder - 1 /2 tsp
  • Garam masala powder (optional) - 1/4 tsp or can add 1/2 tsp of soy sauce
  • Salt - 1/2 tsp or as per your taste
  • Olive oil or vegetable oil - 1 tbsp
  • Sesame oil - 1/4 tsp for drizzling (optional)
  • Green onion - 2 tbsp for garnish


  1. In a large bowl, fill tap water and add 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder
  2. Put sliced mushrooms into this bowl and let it stand for 10 minutes
  3. After this time, wash the mushrooms well and drain it
  4. In a wide pan heat olive oil over medium heat and add chopped onion
  5. Saute the onion until slightly golden brown, then add garlic saute until it raw smell fades
  6. Add green onion,capsicum, saute for few seconds
  7. Now lower heat and add turmeric powder, chilli flakes, pepper powder and salt,saute well
  8. Add mushrooms and mix well with masala
  9. Cover and cook medium - low heat for 10 minutes
  10. Don't add water ,water will comes out from mushroom
  11. Open the lid and finally add garam masala powder or soy sauce(optional)
  12. Stir fry until the gravy thicken and drizzle some sesame oil(optional)
  13. Switch off the stove and transfer the mushroom masala to a plate and garnish with green onion
  14. Enjoy with rice,chappatis /any kind of roti/you can spread the masala between the sandwiches too
