Banana Fritters or Pazham Pori

Banana Fritter or Pazham Pori is a common fried snack in any Kerala home. Its served hot with tea. This snack is also one of the favorites among kids.All the ingredients are usually commonly found in any Kerala home. Enjoy eating pazham pori made from this quick recipe 🙂

TIP: Don’t make the oil too hot.. else banana might get burned.

Banana Fritters or pazham pori

One of the famous and tasty tea snack


  • Ripe plantain or kerala banana - 3 nos cut lengthwise and halve
    For batter :
  • All - purpose flour ( maida ) - 3/4 cup
  • Rice flour - 1/4 cup
  • Sugar - 1/4 cup
  • Cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric - 1 pinch
  • Salt - 1 pinch
  • Water - 3/4 to 1 cup
    For fry :
  • Oil - 3/4 cup


  1. In a wide bowl combine all purpose flour , rice flour , salt ,sugar, turmeric and cardamom powder
  2. Slowly add water and mix well
  3. The batter should not be too thin or too thick
  4. Meanwhile heat oil in a pan over medium heat, when it is really hot ,
  5. Dip the banana pieces into the batter until it's coated and place it in the hot oil one by one
  6. Deep fry till it is golden brown , flip in between
  7. Remove from the oil and transfer to a plate with a paper towel to soak excess oil
  8. Enjoy pazham pori with tea
