Parippu Vada


Parippu vada or dal fritter is one of the favorite snack among kids and adults alike. I love eating it with hot tea.

Parippu Vada or Lentil Rounds

Spicy and Crunchy snack with evening tea


  • Parippu [toor dal] - 250gm or 1cup
  • Basmati Rice - 4 tbs
  • Water - 4tbsp
  • Salt - to taste - or 1 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1tsp
  • Chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Salt - to taste - or 1 1/2 tsp
  • Shallot - 6 nos chopped
  • Green chilli - 3 nos chopped
  • Ginger -1inch piece chopped
  • Garlic - 3 cloves chopped
  • Curry leaves - few chopped
  • Coriander leaves - few chopped
  • Oil - For frying


  1. Clean the lentils, basmati rice and soak it in cold water 3 hours.
  2. Grind it coarsely with salt and 4 tbsp of water.
  3. Add all the chopped items into it along with turmeric and chilli powder. mix well.
  4. Make a lemon size ball and press it with your palm.
  5. Heat oil in a pan and deep fry until golden brown. Enjoy with tea.
